International Scientific Conference on Humanities

This conference will be held under the patronage of  Her Magnificence, Rector of the University of Warsaw, Prof. Katarzyna Chałasińska-Macukow, and the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Prof. Michał Kleiber.

The scientific conference Fons largus. The Library: a Source of Inspiration - Biblioteka, źródło inspiracji, a joint project of the University of Warsaw Library (BUW) and the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IS PAN), will take place in Warsaw in the third week of May 2012.  The general aim of the conference is to provide a forum for scholars to review and discuss the function and mission of academic and research libraries, with particular reference to their inspirational role for the humanities, their subject and methodological orientation, as well as the libraries’ impact on the artistic creativity and theory of fine arts and architecture. The significance of the library as a source of inspiration will be considered from both historical and contemporary perspectives and consideration will also be given to developments and solutions for the future.

One-day passes

From 19th November 2011 one-day passes are issued:
- on Sundays from 11 am to 6 pm at the entrance Information Desk,
- on Sundays - at the Information Desk (level 1) during opening hours.

From Monday to Friday and on Saturdays from 9 am to 11 am and from 6 pm to 9 pm one-day passes are not issued.

Visitors who wish to register to the Library may get a library card from Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 8 pm at the Circulation Desk.

Where are we?
The University of Warsaw Library is situated not far from the city center -  in Powiśle district in the vicinity of the Old Town and Vistula river. It is only 10 minutes walking distance from the main Campus of the University in Krakowskie Przedmieście and the Royal Route.There is  a convenient bus connection. Four buses (118, 150, 506, E-6) stop right next to the Library. It is very easy to get here from the airport or from other outlying suburbs (you must get to Krakowskie Przedmieście and walk the escarpment down).
 
Opening hours

University of Warsaw Library is open:

Mondays - Saturdays  - 9 am - 9 pm

Sundays - 3 pm - 8 pm
