Opening hours during the academic year 2025/2026
In the academic year 2025/2026 the Library is open as follows:
- Monday – Sunday 7.00 am – 1.00 am,
- in a 24-hour mode during the exam sessions:
- 12.01 – 27.02.2026,
- 11.05 – 26.06.2026,
- 24.08 – 11.09.2026.
Opening hours during holidays
From 29th June to 23rd August 2026, the Library will be open as follows:

*Please note! 30 minutes before closing of the Reading Room:
- return the materials you have used,
- requests are not made available for pick up anymore.
In the self-service mode:
- You can enter the Library only with a valid library card. UW students and staff can activate online their card as a library card at any time. If you are not a University member and do not have a valid library card, your first visit must be scheduled during the opening hours of the Registration Point.
- You can use our collections in the Open Stacks area, WiFi (BUW.Hotspot) and online resources.
- You can borrow books from the Open Stacks and the Textbook Collection, renew the return dates and pay fines at the Selfcheck stations.
- You can pick up books ordered from the Closed Stacks in the Pick-up Locker 24 hours a day.
- You can return borrowed books to the Return Box or via the Selfcheck stations

Public and church holidays and other days announced by the Rector of the University of Warsaw and the Director of BUW:

- Easter (Sunday, Monday, moveable feast).
- May 1st – Labour Day.
- May 3rd – Constitution Day.
- Whit Sunday (moveable feast).
- Corpus Christi (moveable feast).
- August 15th – Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
- November 1st – All Saints’ Day.
- November 11th – National Independence Day.
- December 24th – Christmas Eve.
- December 25th – Christmas.
- December 26th – Christmas (second day).
We will inform you in advance about any additional days of the Library closures on BUW website.

The garden is open 7 days a week (excuding days when special events are organised) in the following hours:
- 1 – 30 April: 8.00 am – 6.00 pm
- 1 May – 30 September: 8.00 am – 8.00 pm
- 1 – 31 October: 8.00 am – 6.00 pm
- 1 November – 31 March: 8.00 am – 3.00 pm (without access to the roof)
The entrance to the garden is from Dobra Street, at the junction with Gęsta Street.
Admission is free.
