The interlibrary loan service is available to staff and students of the University of Warsaw. BUW may order books from other libraries outside of Warsaw (domestic or foreign libraries). If an item is not available in any library in Warsaw – we order it from another library in Poland. Such service is free of charge. If the item is not available in any Polish library – we order it from foreign libraries. This is a paid service.

Requests for orders shall be placed via a form in the online catalogue.

We will notify you by email as to whether or not your order can be fulfilled.

The requested materials can be accessed only in the BUW Reading Room.

The University Library lends its own collections to libraries in Poland and abroad.

Requests should be sent to the following email address: wyp.buw@uw.edu.pl

Requesting and providing access to materials from other libraries

For staff, PhD students and undergraduates at the University of Warsaw, the library can obtain a book (from libraries in Poland or abroad).
Items are obtained from libraries in Poland only if they are not available in Warsaw libraries, and from libraries abroad if they are not held by libraries in Poland and are not available in electronic format from the University of Warsaw’s network.

The request form is available in the University of Warsaw Libraries Catalogue.

You will be notified by email as to whether your request has been processed or cannot be processed. The status of your request will also be visible on your library account under the ‘Requests’ tab.
