Lockers
Free self-service lockers are available on the BUW premises for storing personal belongings. A locker may be borrowed by anyone with a valid library card and the borrowing is recorded on the reader’s account. The lockers cannot be reserved or renewed. There is a charge of 5 PLN per day for an overdue locker.
Rules for the use of self-service lockers in the University of Warsaw
Level -1 and the cloakrooms
You can borrow a locker key for 24 hours at the security desk at the entrance.
The lockers located on level -1 are publicly accessible, while the lockers in the cloakroom are for users with special needs only.
Level 1 behind the Information Desk
The lockers are publicly accessible during the Information Desk’s opening hours. The key can be borrowed and returned at the Information Desk (check the opening hours).
Level 2 by the Reading Room
The lockers for those who wish to use the Reading Room are available during its opening hours. The key can be borrowed and returned in the Reading Room (check the opening hours).
Lockers for Special Collections Departments
The lockers for those who wish to use the reading rooms of the Special Collections Departments, available during their opening hours. The key can be borrowed and returned at the Information Desk (check the opening hours).
- the lockers of the 19th Century Publications Department are located on level 1, behind the Information Desk, right by the entrance to the 19th Century Publications Reading Room.
- the lockers of the other Special Collections Departments are located on level 3, next to the Print Room.
Individual study booths
Individual work booths for students and doctoral students
The 4 UW student and doctoral student booths can be found on level 2. You can borrow and return the keys to them at the Information Desk (check the opening hours).
- Three of the booths can be reserved through the catalogue and borrowed for 14 days. Pick up your booth key at the Information Desk within 3 days of notification of availability.
- One of the booths is one-day only and does not need to be reserved: the first-come, first-served rule applies. You can use it during the Information Desk’s opening hours.
Rules for the use of individual work booths for students and doctoral students
Individual work booths for researchers
The booths are located on level 3. You can borrow and return the keys to the booths in the Reading Room on level 2 (check the opening hours).
One-day booths can be used by research staff from all universities. The keys to these booths are available without reservation in the Reading Room.
The 14-day cabins can only be used by research staff from the University of Warsaw.
Booths can be reserved through the catalogue. Pick up your booth key in the Reading Room within 3 days of being notified of its availability. A booth can be renewed up to 3 times, as long as there are no reservations for it and you do not have any overdue items or fees on your account.
Group work rooms
The group work rooms (rooms 264 and 265) are located on level 2 and can accommodate groups of up to 20 people. The rooms are open during BUW opening hours and are accessible to anyone with a valid library card.
