Between 22nd and 24th of October, BUW will be hosting participants of a workshop organized under the ReIReS project. ReIReS (an acronym for (Research Infrastructure on Religious Studies) is a Horizon 2020-funded consortium consisting of 12 European research institutions, including University of Warsaw, which under the guidance of Fondazione per le scienze religose Giovanni XXIII (FSCIRE) in Bologna work on the creation of new tools for research based on primary sources for religious history that are scattered throughout European libraries and archives.
During the workshop a group of 18 representatives of FSCIRE, Sofia University, Johannes Gutenberg University and Institute for European History in Mainz and University of Warsaw will get acquainted with the BUW’s collections associated with religious history and culture, focusing primarily on such items as prints showing interventions of church censors, symbolic meaning of early modern maps, and drawings based biblical motifs. The participants will also try to answer the question how the digital platform created under the project may help future generations of scholars in learning about the existence of and reaching out to these primary sources. The whole Warsaw workshop will last until the 26th of October; on Thursday and Friday the participants will visit the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute and the Faculty of “Artes Liberales” of the University of Warsaw.
