Equality at BUW

BUW is a place for everyone. We want working and studying at the Library to take place in an atmosphere of respect and without discrimination. BUW has an Equality Plenipotentiary whose job is to listen, advise, and take action — whether you have a specific problem or simply want to know your rights.

Individual Support

Who can reach out

  • People who experience or witness unequal treatment.
  • People who don’t know how to respond in a difficult situation.
  • People seeking support or information about available forms of assistance.
  • People who have ideas on how BUW can be a more open and safe space.

How can I help? I offer conversation and support in difficult situations. I can explain what discrimination, bullying, and harassment are. I can help you decide “what to do next” and suggest possible courses of action – both informal and formal. If necessary, I provide contact information for the relevant units at the University of Warsaw and assist you in reaching out to them.

People belonging to groups that more frequently experience unequal treatment or face additional barriers in the academic environment may need special support:

  • people with disabilities,
  • neurodiverse individuals,
  • members of the LGBTQ+ community,
  • parents and guardians.
