Settlements with BUW

Settlements are carried out by the deans’ offices of the individual UW units electronically via the USOSWeb platform (clearance slip).

The settlement takes up to 5 working days (excluding Saturdays and Sundays).

In order to be settled, your library account must be cleared (no unreturned books or unpaid fees in either BUW or faculty libraries). The obligation to settle with BUW also applies to UW students who have not used the Library.

Please note that once a clearance slip has been rejected due to unreturned books or unpaid fees, the student should settle their obligations at the library concerned (BUW and/or faculty library) and then write an email to obiegowki.buw@uw.edu.pl requesting a re-settlement.

Obtaining a settlement at the end of the first degree programme means that the library account is closed.

A student starting a second degree programme at UW must re-open the library account.

Obtaining a settlement at the end of the second degree programme also means that your library account is closed.

If you wish to use BUW after closing your student account you have the following options:

  • if you have already lost your student status but have not yet defended your thesis, you can use the Library (and borrow books home) under special conditions. Check the section ‘I’m a UW student/doctoral student with a certificate of completion’ on the Registrer page.
  • you can set up a paid library card (PLN 20), which entitles you to use the BUW collections on site, without the right to borrow books home
  • if you are an alumni (you have defended your thesis), you can register with the UW Alumni Club.

The Alumni Club card entitles you to use the BUW collections on site and gives you the right to borrow up to 3 books.

The card does not provide remote access to electronic resources.
