What is Enlightenment? Exhibition on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the BUW Print Room, Museum on the Vistula,

24.00 – Marcel Andino Velez, Deputy Director of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw (the guided tour will be translated into Polish sign language and supplemented with audio description)

Programme at BUW, 19.00-1.00, ul. Dobra 56/66

1. Demonstrations of objects from the historical, artistic and special collections of BUW Special Collections Departments will be carried out under the slogan ENLIGHTENMENT by NIGHT

• Light needs a shadow: the development of medicine in the 19th century – 19th Century Publications Department (Reading Room, II floor)
• ENLIGHTENMENT by NIGHT – (Print Room III floor).)
• “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page” (St. Augustine) – Manuscripts Department (III floor)
• “Do not be afraid to think” – freedom, reason, discoveries – demonstrations of 18th-century books and maps – Early Printed Books Department and Maps Department (room 316, floor III)
• Glow of the torch of enlightenment – Ephemera Department (Foyer before Manuscripts Department, floor III)

2. VISIT TO TEA PAVILION KAIAN – feel invited to participate in the tea ceremony on mats in the original Japanese pavilion. Guests will be learning tea etiquette and will be treated to biscuits and matcha tea.

Groups of 10 are welcome at: 19.30, 20.30, 21.30, 22.30, 23.30.
Registrations from 19.00 at the main library entrance covered passage, level 0.

Without registering you may have a look at the Pavilion every hour, on the hour. Viewers are asked considerate if a tea ceremony is being held..

Screen printing live – activities by Kwiaciarnia Grafiki, two points: covered passage at BUW and the Museum on the Vistula, 20.00-23.00

The special screen printing design consists of two parts. To complete the composition, you need to visit both the Library and the Museum and print a half in each place. We encourage you to bring light shirts or bags to print patterns on your own or with our help.

Slow Market
at bistro Powidoki at the Museum on the Vistula, 12.00 – 24.00

Branch of the Slow Market at Plac Zabaw. On a smaller scale, but equally abundant in cuisines from various corners of the world.

Attention:

A city information point will be located at the lawn next to the Museum on the Vistula. The complete Long Night of Museums in Warsaw programme will be available there, a well as lemonade and chillout zone.

BUW Gardens will be open on the Long Night of Museums till midnight.
